The following video shows soil-structure interaction modeling in Abaqus of a 3-story linear elastic concrete structure, which is 9 meters tall, with 4-meter bay spans in both the north-south and east-west directions. The soil domain is a 30 meter cube and the deformation is shown with a scale factor of 50.
How do we test the interaction between soils, foundations, and superstructures inside a 3 story laboratory? We can simulate the response of any superstructure (for example, bridge, 20 story building, or hospital) using a shake table and a real-time control method.
We are proud to announce the newest instrumentation addition to our laboratory capabilities: a Noggin 500MHz Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) device.
